Mental illnesses and psychological distress are difficult things to talk about
Mental illnesses and psychological distress are difficult things to talk about. It’s important that your GP is knowledgeable, skilled and helpful and with whom you feel comfortable to share private details about your health.
Your GP should be your first point of contact for any mental health concerns. We are here to help, whether it’s simply having someone to talk to or to get a specialist referral to see a psychiatrist, psychologist, or other counsellor.
Your GP can also assess your eligibility for a Mental Health Care Plan, providing you with up to 20 Medicare subsidised counselling sessions a year.
Our GPs have extensive experience dealing with various mental health concerns, including:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Post-traumatic stress
